Our Work
Through the Willie Tonga Foundation, we’ve proudly delivered a range of community-focused events and programs across Australia - each designed to empower, uplift, and connect. Our work includes men’s mental health yarning circles in regional communities like Cherbourg, school workshops in partnership with the Arthur Beetson Foundation, mentoring sessions within Juvenile Justice Centres such as Wacol, Cobham and Reiby, and NAIDOC Week engagements in Canberra and Logan. Whether it's supporting youth or encouraging men to speak openly for the first time, every event is grounded in lived experience, cultural connection, and a deep commitment to creating lasting impact.

Mental Health Walk
Willie recently joined Downer Group for a Mental Health Walk, bringing employees together in support of mental wellbeing. Following the walk, Willie shared his own powerful journey with mental health - speaking openly about his struggles, resilience, and the importance of creating safe spaces for men to talk. The session was a meaningful reminder of how vulnerability can lead to strength, and why conversations like these matter in both the workplace and the wider community.
Stronger Futures Youth Panel
Willie was honoured to take part in the Stronger Futures Youth Panel at the Canberra NAIDOC celebrations—joining esteemed voices such as Adam Goodes, Katrina Fanning, and Louise Taylor, and facilitated by Jeff McMullen. Held on the main stage, the panel focused on empowering the next generation, with Willie sharing insights from his lived experience and the importance of resilience, cultural identity, and self-belief. His presence reinforced the Foundation’s ongoing mission to support young voices, encourage leadership, and inspire brighter futures within Indigenous communities.

Youth Mentoring
As an ambassador for Bulgarr Ngaru Medical Aboriginal Corporation (BNMAC), Willie regularly visits schools and juvenile justice centres across the region to connect with young people on a grassroots level. Through honest conversations, cultural connection, and mentoring, he creates safe spaces where youth feel seen, heard, and supported. His presence encourages self-belief and helps spark hope for a better future—reminding them that where they start doesn’t define where they can go.
